Professor Wang Qigang of Tongji University was invited to give an academic reportIssuing time:2019-02-20 16:58 On January 28, 2019, Professor Wang Qigang, Distinguished Professor of the School of Chemical Science and Engineering of Tongji University, was invited to give an academic report. He gave an excellent report titled "Mild Preparation and Biomedical Application of Polymer Gels Containing Cascade Enzymes". Researcher Zhang Peibiao, leader of the regenerative medicine materials research group, presided over the report meeting. Professor Wang Qigang graduated from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a Ph.D., and subsequently engaged in postdoctoral research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, and RIKEN. His many years of research have centered on the main axis of "design of enzyme-containing carrier materials and application of catalytic oxidation". He has published as the first author and corresponding author in Nature, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., J.Am. Chem. He has published more than 60 high-level articles such as Soc. and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. In this academic report, Professor Wang Qigang introduced the types and applications of oxidoreductases through his many years of research on "Design of Enzyme-Containing Carrier Materials and Application of Catalytic Oxidation". Under mild conditions, this type of enzyme can catalyze the single electron transfer of the substrate to generate free radicals, thereby triggering the polymerization of polymer monomers to obtain a series of enzyme-sensitive hydrogels with adjustable physical and chemical properties. This type of enzyme-containing gel has good application prospects in the fields of biocatalysis, drug delivery, tissue engineering and other fields. Recent studies have found that hydrogel carriers can integrate multiple cascade enzymes. The gel-integrated cascade enzymes have super catalytic activity and are expected to be used in future mild biocatalytic transformations and biooxidative treatments. After the report, Professor Wang Qigang conducted a series of academic exchanges with participating teachers and classmates, fully exchanged and discussed the mechanism of enzymatic free radical polymerization and enzyme-catalyzed reactions on the surface of materials, and introduced the use of enzymatic Gels obtained by free radical polymerization are used in tissue engineering, bioimaging and other related fields. They jointly discussed the feasibility of future project cooperation, clinical technology development and product transformation.
