Professor Ouyang Hongwei of Zhejiang University was invited to visit Changchun Institute of Applied

On November 9, 2018, Ouyang Hongwei, Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University, Honorary Professor of the University of Edinburgh, Dean of the Zhejiang University-Edinburgh University Joint College, and Vice Dean of the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, was invited to visit the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry and was a guest of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Changchun. The "Applied Chemistry Lecture Series" of the Institute of Applied Chemistry gave a wonderful report titled "Exploration and Thoughts on Translational Research in Regenerative Medicine". Researcher Zhang Peibiao, leader of the regenerative medicine materials research group, presided over the report meeting and awarded Professor Ouyang Hongwei a commemorative plaque for the lecture and an appointment certificate as a visiting professor at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry.

Professor Ouyang Hongwei has carried out a series of innovative work in basic research on tendon and cartilage regeneration, tissue engineering technology development and clinical application, stem cell technology and cell therapy. He has been funded by the National Outstanding Youth Fund Project (Sports Medicine) and other projects. He is currently Fellow of the International Orthopedic Research Society (ICORS Fellow), Chairman-elect of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Branch of the Chinese Bioengineering Society, Deputy Leader of the National Biomaterials Special Expert Group during the 13th Five-Year Plan, National Active Health and Elderly Response Technology during the 13th Five-Year Plan Special team expert, chief scientist of the stem cell expansion project of the 13th Five-Year Plan National Stem Cell Major Project.

In this report, Professor Ouyang Hongwei combined his many years of experience as a clinician and engaged in regenerative medicine research to introduce to everyone the challenges and scientific issues faced in the regeneration of tendon and cartilage tissue in clinical treatment, as well as the use of autologous cells as a Suggestions on clinical transformation and management of basic tissue engineering technology, and pointed out that "innovation ability is the requirement of the times for individuals." As a member of the "Joint Research Center for Regenerative Medicine Materials" of the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Professor Ouyang Hongwei also participated in the 2018 working meeting of the research center and discussed with other members of the center the biomaterials needed in clinical practice and the role of biomaterials in clinical practice. Full exchanges and discussions were held on application and other aspects, and the feasibility of future project cooperation, clinical technology development and product transformation were jointly discussed.
